365 Days Already

Three-Six-Five days has passed already without you been around, it still looks like a dream I can't believe you have passed on to the great beyond on the Lord's. Every night I go to bed, your thought always flash through my mind and it's always as if I'm going to see you at the break of dawn but then the reality set in, the pictures of your last moments on this earth comes to my mind which always leave me contemplating about your demise.
I must confess that the past 365 days without you have not been so easy at all, the jokes we cracked the laughter we share and the numerous one on one talk we had.

We (KOMAT) are really proud of you, we thank you for your sacrifice, for making sure that we all grow into adulthood in excellence, it's a great sacrifice. For the past few days, I have recalled one  of your numerous sacrifices to my mind.
I remember vividly, I gained admission to the university after 4 attempt without success, we were all very happy about it, I will be resuming soon we all thought but then there was no fund to pay for school fees, you took the reproach and had to borrow in order for me to to pay my school fees because of of your love, sacrifice and value for education, you invested greatly in us by ensuring that everyone of us graduated from the tertiary institution. Who know what would have happen if the admission had slipped away from me?.

As I look back in retrospect, the words you said to me as you handed over the cash to me "mo omo eni ti iwo n se” (know the son of whom you are), things are really hard". These words really serve as a compass for me throughout my undergraduate days and each time I tend to straw away, it brought me back to the right path.

In the last three hundred and sixty five days, I have encouraged myself greatly in the Lord and I have had to encourage my mum and my siblings too. We love you, we miss you more even as the memory is so fresh as if it was yesterday but we know God has greater plan for us. There was a word Someone said to me during those trying period which I have also revamped and I share it now "your Dad is not dead but called to glory to reign with Christ forever".

Reign with Christ Dad.

The Greatest Opportunity

Every human on the surface of the earth have dreams, goals and targets which they have set for themselves in the area of finance, academics, physical fitness, spiritual life etc

Majority of these people often obsessed with their goals hold it very close to their heart waiting for a minor break to latch on and convert it to a bigger one or better still grab the bigger breaks as soon as it surface.

In the opening chapters of his book Outliers, Malcom Gladwell talked about the existence of some successful persons on earth at a given period of time. Example of these group of people are the young boys drafted by the Canadian hockey team who met the eligibility cut off age and went on to become great sports icon. Another example used was that of the great men that grabbed the opportunity during the industrial revolution in the united states of America (Carnegie, Rockefeller etc) and the computer gurus of the dotcom boom (Gates, Allen, Joy, Jobs etc).

All these story may be fascinating. However, there is even one more ultimate opportunity that every human on earth should grab with both hands and that is knowing Christ as the Lord and the messiah (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). In his book, The Purpose Driven Life Pastor Rick Warren pointed out that we are here on earth for fellowship with God, to show forth His praise (1 Peter 2:9), to prepare for eternity, how time on earth will only be a tiny fraction compared to what eternity holds.

So why we all have our daily goals to our breakthroughs close to our heart, trying to acquire great wealth or trying a to build a legacy that will last long even after our exit form this earth. The starting point to the attainment of all these lasting legacies lies in the greatest opportunity (Matthew 6:33). So why don't you seek him today (John 3:3) because every other opportunity you can ever think of is fully embedded in the greatest opportunity (Colossians 1:17).

John C. Maxwell: Create Opportunity

When opportunity knocks, will you answer the door ... and hold it open for others?
People sometimes ask me when I plan to retire. They seem to think that I "deserve" to take it easy and put my feet up at this stage in my life. Maybe they believe retirement is a prize you win at the end of a long and healthy career. The truth is that I can’t imagine retirement. My prize is finding more ways to impact others: I just turned 67, and I’m more conscious of the opportunities to do that than ever. It’s a good thing, too, because the possibilities keep coming. There’s a phenomenon I call 'success momentum'—the ability to see an opportunity, seize it, capitalize on the success and then jump at the next chance.

Here’s a good way to think about life: Picture yourself walking through a maze. You’ll test all sorts of doors, some of which might take you to new and interesting avenues, some of which might dead-end. If you just keep opening doors and moving forward, eventually you will arrive someplace worthwhile. You can build success momentum, too. The open doors of opportunity are all around you, but they won’t do you much good unless you learn to see them and recognize when to walk through them. Let’s consider how you can align yourself with the opportunities coming your way, and open doors for yourself.

• Keep walking. On your journey, you won’t find lights illuminating your path or signs stating that your destination nears. You could be on the verge of success and not even know it. Push forward! Perseverance pays. Most people don’t get to the open door because they don’t walk far enough. As Norman Vincent Peale said, "It’s always too early to quit!"

• Keep searching. Try new things. Watch to see what works for others.

• Keep clarifying. It is easy to miss an opportunity if you don’t know what you are looking for. The most successful people wake up each morning with a clear sense of what they want to create in their lives. That clarity of purpose makes it easy to identify a good opportunity.

• Keep working. As Thomas Edison said, "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." I love that! Nothing worthwhile in life comes free. If you want bigger and better things, you have to be willing to work for them.

• Keep opening. Too many people get to one door, go through it, and say, “Whew!” They don’t realize that taste of success is really just a nibble. The only advantage of going through the first door is that it leads to a second door. A dozen doors later you are really starting to experience success.
Once you conquer the maze, you can turn around and guide others. To me, that is the highest form of success.
I enjoy maximizing my own opportunities, but I find more satisfaction in helping others grow and achieve. Here are four ways you can become a mentor who opens doors for people to reach their own potential:

• Push them to grow. How often have you known people with remarkable gifts but no idea how to tap into them? Sometimes people don’t recognize their potential until someone points it out. Be that motivator. Help your colleagues identify their strengths, hone their talents and recognize their capabilities. It’s the greatest gift you can give.

• Be open to their questions. Let others gain from your wisdom and experience. Good leaders are accessible to their top performers and take time to answer their questions. Your wins and losses can be a gold mine for developing leaders. When you share how you think, your people gain insight that makes them productive beyond their personal experience.

• Give them chances to change. Are your people innovative? Do they like to develop new ideas? Give people ownership and allow them to problem-solve, create new products, or interview new team members. When people contribute to meaningful change, they feel pride in the organization’s success and responsibility for it.

• Provide opportunities for them to win. Momentum is a leader’s best friend. Your team needs regular opportunities to win together. I  like to encourage friendly competition among my team. I offer incentives based on measurable results and watch my people push each other to victory. It’s a fun way to improve performance, increase profits and build team unity.

Opening doors for yourself and others builds a culture that celebrates growth, change and risk-taking. Opportunity-seeking can, in fact, become a habit. Tell your team members to be on the lookout for opportunities to improve themselves, the team and the company. Ask people to look at your processes, products and procedures with fresh eyes.
By doing so, you’ll take your business to a whole new level. You may find that team members begin to come to you with their new ideas and opportunities. When you communicate that you value, appreciate and implement good ideas from any source, you set your team up for success and encourage individual contributions.

Author Orison Swett Marden once said, “Don’t wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them.” That is great advice. Start opening doors and never stop. Life is full of opportunity for those who are willing to look for it.

John C. Maxwell: 10 Actions to Help Your Team Accept Change

A guide for turning resistance into assistance—to keep everyone moving in the right direction.

Early in my career, I took over a volunteer-driven organization that had been led by the same man for 27 years. I respected the previous leader and admired a lot of the things he did.

But I knew that I was a different person and needed to do some things my own way. I recognized that the organization had become stuck on a plateau and realized that freeing it—as the new guy—would not be an easy task.

I began to implement changes immediately. But not everyone was on board. After about three months, a volunteer leader named Chuck pulled me aside and said, “John, you changed everything. Everything.” He was pretty upset.

Most of us are “Chucks" when it comes to change: resistant, nervous… sometimes even a little angry. Even though the organization was experiencing positive growth, Chuck didn’t like the new way of doing business.

Too many Chucks make for a very disgruntled workplace.
As the leader, I had to figure out how to build a bridge to connect with Chuck and others like him. I needed to win their trust. So I scheduled a monthly gathering of the entire organization, promising to answer any questions thrown at me.

I’ll never forget that first meeting—an assembly of hundreds of uncomfortable people (including me!). I perched on a stool and took questions for hours. I didn’t always give people the answers they wanted to hear, but I was honest. I held this meeting month after month until the number of people attending dwindled from hundreds of Chucks to a couple of dozen.

Here’s what I learned: No matter your title, people will not follow you if they don’t trust you. Whether you are just taking over a team or working to implement large-scale change within one, you are guaranteed to run into resistance if you haven’t taken time to establish a foundation with the people you oversee before turning their worlds upside down.

Here are 10 ways to break down resistance and keep the herd generally moving in the right direction:
1. Start with compassion. No matter the circumstances, change is scary, and you represent that terrifying unknown. Meet people where they are. If they oppose you or your initiatives, offer empathy rather than animosity. Their reactions aren’t personal; they are just responding to an uninvited shake-up.

2. Connect first. It’ll be tempting to ask people to “get over it” and go straight to work. Resist that impulse! No doubt you are anxious to see quick results (and your job may hinge on it), but you’re better off starting slow and finding common ground. Get to know the people on your team. Ask them about their families, their backgrounds and their concerns. Find opportunities for one-on-one interactions. These moments of connection are the most important ones in your day. If you don’t connect, you can forget about helping people move forward.

3. Influence the influencers. Pay attention to group dynamics. Who are the influencers? These people hold the keys to the kingdom. Identify them and then focus your energy on getting to know them—quickly! If you’re a new leader, these established team members no doubt have more influence than you. Enlist their help. A few vocal supporters can be priceless.

4. Address resistance. Don’t pretend resistance will go away on its own. Draw it into the open. Invite the voices of discontent to the table. Put your pride aside and listen. Remember, it isn’t personal. You can’t deal with resistance until you understand it, and you won’t earn buy-in until you understand people’s reservations and the reasons behind them.

5. Communicate your values. It’s tempting to withdraw when you encounter conflict, but you have to do the opposite. You’ve got to overcommunicate. Look for ways to demonstrate your values as you explain your vision. You want to reassure people that your principles are positive and show where your values align with theirs. The key is to be steady, positive and consistent.

6. Learn from other leaders. How do others create a turnaround and overcome opposition? How do they initiate a cultural change? Cast a wide net and read about leaders outside your industry. When it comes to great leadership, there’s nothing wrong with stealing tricks from those who have gone before you.

7. Go forward boldly. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. (Just be sure to fix them faster than you make them!) Stop and assess yourself, your process and your progress often, and course-correct as needed. Mistakes are inevitable. Keep it moving.

8. Prioritize and act. In his book The ONE Thing, Gary Keller, chairman of Keller Williams Realty, offers a simple leadership formula that will yield extraordinary results: Find the one thing you can do that will make other things easier or even unnecessary. Identify that thing and prioritize it. The rest will fall into place.

9. Create wins for the organization. Never underestimate the power of early victories. They give people confidence to keep pushing forward, even though turning the ship is hard. Achieving an early win builds team momentum. It gives you credibility. It motivates people and silences the  critics.

10. Equip leaders. If you want to sustain change and start building momentum, you must start developing and equipping the leaders. It is a slow and difficult process, but it creates lasting change. Look for your stars and pour on the support.

Whenever you step into a new leadership role, you are living on borrowed time. All eyes are on you, and not everyone watching is on your side. This is your chance to prove yourself worthy of your leadership position. Take this time to develop relationships and establish trust with all of the Chucks.
Before long, their resistance will give way to momentum.

OLUMYTEE: PURSUIT OF DESTINY

PURSUIT OF DESTINY

"Where you are at the place of your appointment, is the location of the pursuit of your destiny" This is the quote I receive from the greatest AUTHOR this afternoon.

Hello guys, How is the day going?. How was church?. Did you pray for me?. Well, you can answer that with a smile regardless of what your answer may be. Back to the business of the day, I took a short nap this afternoon and while napping the quote in the opening paragraph was what I received form the greatest AUTHOR ever liveth. The words were so real in my spirit that I repeated them again and again, when I woke up I kept repeating the same word until it sunk in my spirit

Now why am I sharing this you may ask, while I was in the dream land I was engage in some random things and then I saw myself with a group of people I then spoke the quote above, it caught the attention of one of the ladies I saw in my dream, she sat down to listen, some other persons also came to join her to listen to my explanation.

Here is it, the explanation is straight forward. No matter where you are right now; at home, at school, in the office, I mean anywhere you are, whatever thing you find your yourself doing (Ecclesiastes 9:10) or any activity you are in is currently shaping you and I for our future, our destiny. It Unless we improve or change what we are presently doing we might not like what we will see in the nearest future.

These includes very little things like; waking up early in the morning, punctuality to business, our attitudes to work, decisions we make, attitudes towards people around us, service to others, time devoted to studies etc. This means that the goals, dreams & aspiration we seek to accomplish is gradually been formed because we become the way we act and the things we do. It actually determines how prepare we are when opportunities, promotion, favour comes our way,  one question we should ask our self is; "Do I like the person I am gradually becoming?".

Whatever your answer may be, my present location (place of assignment which may include; place of worship, current job, school, volunteer etc). I can seek to improve myself, improve my attitudes to work, towards people, serve people more, dare to think big, put some planning in place and like the saying goes "great things start small" start something, no matter our small it may be (Job 8:7) pray & trust God for increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). Who knows we might just have set ourselves on the road to great accomplishment.

"Where you are at the place of your appointment, is the location of the pursuit of your destiny" OLUMYTEE

Kenny K'óre Lyrics

I am Planning to do this song by Kenny Kore in Church this Sunday so I feel I should post the lyrics here for people who might also need the lyrics, Let's go

Chorus
Eternity is planted in all our hearts/2x
When you hear a brother say forever young
You shouldn't be mistaken he speak for us all
When you hear sister say forever young
You shouldn't be mistaken she speak for us all
Eternity is planted in all our hearts.

Verse 1
You said the world is a gold mine but I'm not tripping
The money, the fame, the game I'm not tripping
I'm repping Jesus nowadays He's all I need
Eternity is on my mind
Call me an alien here, I'm a sojourner here
It's been a fine year, but I don't belong here
This aint emotion speaking, it's my decision really
I'm not tired of revelation, not a denomination
I hate fornication, Jesus can heal a Nation
Falling star, your days are falling fast
You're on a press peace, are you gonna rest in peace
For all eternity.

Chorus

Verse 2
I will awaken my don
Seen darkness all around
My weapon is more than a gun
I'm standing on the revelation of John
Are you gonna bone
Look my chains are gone
God is still not gone
Looking at the treasure Solomon
Why do you think I run
For more divine protection
What do you think is from, It's called tribulation
You call it 666
My generation is on a long thing
Procrastinating, time is not waiting
But they say I'm wrong
As for me I wanna live long
For all eternity/2x

Verse 3
He was in the world and the world was made by Him
And the world knew Him not
He came unto His own and His own received Him not
But as many as received Him he gave the power to become sons of God
Even those who believed in His name
Take me back to the church.

Bridge
Whatever your religion it's in your heart
I don't know your location it's in your heart
Whether white whether black it's in your heart
Whether young whether old it's in your heart
Whether short whether tall

The 30 Introspective Self-Questioning Questions That You Should Ask Yourself

Quite recently, I came across this new blog  ShortStormTrooper [cool name btw], by my good ol’ blogger mate Lee (@leesargent on Twitter). And this  post [ 30 questions that will change the way you think about the world ], left me with a mixed bag of introspective feelings. There was no way I could stop thinking about these questions, and it was best for me if I just let the answers come out organically, sooner than later, rather than think about them over and over again. I highly recommend you take this exercise. It puts you into perspective with where you are, where you want to be, and almost shows you a mirror with the way things are now, things that have been in your life so far, and if you find it acceptable, or not. If you’re still reading this, bravo! Hit the jump, coz you’ll get to know a whole lot of me.

1: How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
26. I liked that age. Young enough to be young and reckless. Old enough to do my own chores. And still play with Lego.

2: Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Never trying. I feel terrible when it comes to answering “What-Ifs”.

3: When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
I would hope so. But then, you can say more than you can do. Considering the things I have got on my bucket list, and the pace at which it’s expanding, it’ll be bloody hard.

4: What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?

Just one thing? Hmm. Red Tape. It needs to stop after a certain extent. Too many processes and standards to follow that it impedes decision making. Necessary evil I guess. I know, of all the evils, I picked this one lol.

5: Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I don’t think I am. I have to pay my bills, rent, and XBOX Live Gold subscription. But I am using my statistical knowledge to write an algorithm to predict the National Lottery to minimise error margins. Well, I did try to. I had all the data, and then my laptop caught fire. Bloody Windows.

6: To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
I think I have said more “No”s to stuff I didn’t want to do, than “Yes” to the things I’d have liked/loved to do. Does that mean I took control? Maybe.

7: Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
This one sounds like a question from an HR interview round. And now I am more worried to answer this right. I am not a perfectionist because I am lazy. And I fail quite often too. I give up too easily. And so, the answer is neither.

8: If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Question a lot. Never take anything for granted. And dubstep sucks.

9: Would you break the law to save a loved one?
Yes, most certainly.

10: Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
A lot of times. Especially, when it comes to rewatching movies.

11: What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
There’s this quote which I’d like to mention here – “Everyone’s unique, like everyone else“. Don’t know the source. Yes, some people on the exterior look like streamlined manufactured bots. But I think everyone is unique in their own way. I, for one, think and speak a lot to myself. Just like Joe.

12: How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?
It wouldn’t be good if we were all the same, would it? Imagine how bland it’d be then.

13: What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back?
Write a kick-ass horror movie script, and make a film on it. Shortage of ideas probably. But one day I will.

14: Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
Not only elevators, Game controller buttons too.

15: Why are you, you?
Because I don’t have the genes to be the Doctor. Or the money / brains to be Tony Stark.

16: Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
No, I haven’t. The ones that I have been close to live too far away. Work and career have taken over as priorities. Sad.

17: Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
Ugh, hypothetical questions are the worst. So Dementia vs. Short Term Memory Loss? I’d like to make new ones.

18: Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?

No. Although, I used to just cram theories of Organic chemistry. Haven’t got around to finding the truth on that front. It could all be a hoax.

19: Has your greatest fear ever come true?
No way. I have many fears, some more scary than others.

20: At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
Most recently, at the Metallica concert. Quite obviously why. Also, Comic Cons are awe-inspiring.

21: If not now, then when?
Whenever you can, financially, emotionally and physically.

22: If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?
A lot. Quite a lot of it is at stake.

23: Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?
I don’t think it works that way for me. I hate awkward silences. I hate small talk as well.

24: When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?
Never done anything remotely close to what can be termed as risky business. So I guess, you can count me out on this one.

25: If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
I’m sad just thinking about it. Can’t answer.

26: Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
Nope. I am fairly happy with the way I look, and I cannot handle fame. Looks wither, and fame is temporary.

27: What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
Listening to a Metallica album, and being at a Metallica concert, watching them play live, with 80,000 others screaming out loud the same song.

28: What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
Ask for money.

29: When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?
When I had a blocked nose last weekend. Even my neighbours heard it I think.

30: Decisions are being made right now. The question is: Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?
A bit of both. I’m easy, but I know what I don’t want.

INTRODUCTION

Prayer can be rich when it’s simple and spontaneous. In fact, we can pray anywhere, at any time. It doesn’t require lofty language in a sacred space. All we need to do is see our ordinary moments as the perfect occasions for communicating with God, then speak from our heart.

Pray on the Move: Take a few minutes to explore this gallery for some plain and simple ways to pray your way through an ordinary day. While driving to work, to school, or chauffeuring your kids, use familiar landmarks to remind you to thank God, ask God, seek God, and listen to God

Pray Over Your Favourite Foods: God loves the delightful things he has created; and when we enjoy them, he enjoys them with and through us. Savour it; as the Bible says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good!”

Pray Holding Your Dog or Cat: God loves animals even more than we do. In fact, our relationship with them in many ways mirrors our relationship with God. As we are with the creatures under our care, so God is with us. Thank him for your pet, and that you can trust God as they trust you.

Pray Through a Family Photo Album: Use pictures as an opportunity to thank God for the precious people in your life. Ask for God’s blessing on them to fulfil their destinies. Ask God to heal relationship rifts, and to help you heal from the grief of loved ones lost.

Pray During Household Chores: As you tend to your cleaning responsibilities, ask God to tend to his by cleaning out your heart of anything that would compromise His blessed best.

Pray While Brushing Your Teeth: Our words create things and tear things down. Pray that your words today would honour God, and that the things you say might cooperate with what God wants to accomplish in your corner of the world

Pray to Your Favourite Song: God loves music: it’s all over the Bible. Happy songs, sad songs, love songs, and cause songs all reflect aspects of God’s heart. Sing your prayer as a celebration, an appeal, a complaint, a yearning or hope expressed to God.

Pray the Ancient Words of the Bible: The scriptures are our precedent for living, and what was true thousands of years ago remains true and relevant today. When you echo ancient words you connect with the wider human experience and with our never-changing God. Pick a passage like Psalm 23 or Romans 8 and read it slowly. Your words make it a prayer– a familiar prayer – to God.

Pray On a Solitary Walk in Nature: Creation is a window into God’s heart. In the woods, by the sea, beside a stream, or in a garden we find aspects of God’s nature reflected to us in tangible ways. As you walk, talk with God about what you see; then listen. God will respond!

Pray Gazing at the Stars on a Dark Night: We are small and seemingly insignificant in this vast universe. Yet praying as we look out across the galaxies gives God a chance to show us how special, powerful, and specific his love can be. On a dark night, share with God your “biggest challenges.” In that context, God will grant you peace that he is big enough to care for you!

Pray Out Loud: In fact, pray loud! There’s a great tradition of speaking up – even shouting – to God. Try it. Go off somewhere where no one – no one else but God – can hear you. Speak aloud to God. Let your words ring out so that you can hear them. If you’re really bold, give a shout of the things welling up in your heart. The Bible says it: “Shout to the Lord!”

Pray with A Friend About a Secret You Have Carried: Having someone to pray with is a powerful spiritual principle. God cares about relationships and honours it  in a special way the agreement of his children. Share your private concerns confidentially with a friend, then together take those concerns to God. In the comfort of two will come the power of three!

Pray While Reading the Newspaper: God cares about the world and the pain and suffering affecting all people. Learning the news may make you want to wring your hands, but answer that instinct by leveraging the opportunity to ask for God’s intervention in the specific crises at hand.

Pray While Exercising: Use the rhythms and cadence to prompt prayer routines and patterns. With every other step on a walk, for instance, recount the name of a friend who needs prayer, or a gift your thankful for, or a fear you need to release. Pushing your body creates a parallel for pushing your soul.

Pray with Silence and in Stillness: Our days are filled with rushed activity. Finding a few moments to sit still can be a great catalyst for prayer. Try sitting still and being silent, allowing

your thoughts to move toward God. The Bible says, “In quietness and trust is your strength.” In quietness you express a healthy passivity, releasing activity to God, inviting his action.

Pray Over a Good Meal with Family or Friends: Fasting can be a great spiritual discipline to help us focus on prayer, but feasts can help us pray as well. There’s a long tradition of feasts and worship. Use either an ordinary meal or a special occasion to create a kind of edible prayer, perhaps saying, “Lord, we eat this in your honour…”

Pray On a Special Day: Every day is designated with some special meaning. Check an almanac to find what today recognizes, then use that as a platform for prayer. Perhaps today is the birthday of someone you know or the anniversary of an important event. Use any of these remembrances to focus and prompt your prayer for the day.

Pray Through Written Words: Whether through a journal, a hand-written letter, an email, a “Tweet” or blog post, or a card given to a friend, putting prayer into written words is a powerful, ancient – and enduring – practice. Write your prayers, then over time go back and review what you’ve written and consider how God has responded over time.

Pray with Emotion: God can handle our feelings. The stories of great souls always include accounts of their emotional connection with God. We are passionate creatures and God welcomes our anger, sorrow, frustration, fear, and celebration. In fact, he wants it! We’re to love God with all our heart. God can handle your emotions. Use them as a booster rocket for prayer. Laugh out a prayer. Weep out a prayer. Connecting with God at this level is the very best place to find emotional wholeness.

Pray with Simple Triggers: “Triggers” are memory tools that help direct our minds. We can strategically help our prayer practices by placing triggers in our day to remind us to pray in the middle of our ordinary activity. A Post It on your bathroom mirror, an hourly alarm on your watch, a small stone carried in your front pocket, it can be anything. Get creative and deliberate to place these hallmarks along the regular paths you walk. God will meet you there.

Pray Now: God is down to earth, here and now. He comes to meet us, where we live, to prepare us to meet him, where he lives. Communicate with him now, simply, directly, personally.
